The Metropolis of Boston is seeking to identify a Director for the St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center in Contoocook, New Hampshire. The Director must be a Greek Orthodox Christian knowledgeable of our faith, qualified to administer all aspects of the Center with special emphasis on the Retreat House. The Director reports to the Metropolitan of Boston who is advised by a seven-member committee. The North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation met in Toronto for their Annual Meeting from October 24- 26th. Present were twenty-five participants from both Churches from both Canada and the United States. This Consultation meets in Canada every five years, and they were welcomed to Canada by their Eminences, Metropolitan Archbishop Sotirios of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis as well as Cardinal Thomas Collins of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto, who jointly hosted a Luncheon at the Headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto on October 25th. VCS (Vacation Church School) 2013, St. Catherine's Church, Braintree, MA
Directors Eleni Kalioaras and Sophia Kon have successfully organized and put forth a fabulous three week VCS day camp program at the St. Catherine's Parish in Braintree, Massachusetts. Under the direction of Father Phil Mousis, Eleni and Sophia have recruited several junior and senior counselors for the 40-50 children per week that will gather in this faith-based program that starts each day with prayer, and also most importantly in a fun environment with Orthodox children from the Braintree area and beyond. Metropolitan Methodios Visits the Watertown Community
Sunday, April 21, 2013 Watertown, MA: marked an important first step in the long process of healing for the parishioners of the Taxiarchae-Archangels Greek Orthodox Church. In 2010, the Rev. Dr. Demetrios Tonias, who serves as an Ecumenical Officer of the Metropolis of Boston, presented a paper at a World Council of Churches conference held in Constantinople on the topic of "Christian Self-Understanding in the Jewish Context." Fr. Demetri, who represents His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios on issues concerning the Orthodox Christian-Jewish dialogue, spoke on the Orthodox Christian view of the Church as New Israel and the ways in which the Orthodox Church can play an important role in the contemporary dialogue. His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios ordained Peter Leneweaver to the Holy Diaconate on Sunday, March 24 at the Annunciation Cathedral in Boston, Massachusetts. Deacon Peter, 39, was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Dallas Texas. He attended Hellenic College from 1994-1997 and graduated from the University of Texas in 1999. He completed the Archdiocese Diaconate Program in 2012. He currently resides in Weymouth, Massachusetts with his wife Kathy of 9 years. With over 100 campers and 50 staff gathering from all over New England at our Campsite in the pristine woods of New Hampshire, we had a wonderful weekend of Fun, Faith and Fellowship together. MBC hosted over 30 families from across New England that came together to retreat and connect with not only each other but also other families that share their same faith.
