Clergy Reflection: Saturday Of The Third Week
Saturday, March 30, 2019Saturday of the Third Week
Tomorrow, we will reach the midpoint of Great Lent. Two thoughts come to mind as we gaze upon the Holy Cross: First, Jesus ascended the Cross because He was obedient to the will of the Father even unto death, and, second, that God loves us so much that He gave His only Son to die for our sins. Have you ever thought what might have hap- pened if, instead of blaming one another, the Forefa- thers of the human race had fallen on their knees and asked for God's forgiveness? Because they did not ask to be forgiven, we now have the Cross as God's greatest symbol of love for mankind. It fulfills the desire of God that "all should be saved and come to the knowledge of truth." I pray that the Holy Cross will continue to strengthen each of us, so on that glorious Holy and Great day of Pascha, we will chant "by death He destroyed death and to those in the tombs He granted life."
