"TENTH ANNIVERSARY" ARCHPASTORAL REFLECTIONS
Thursday, August 20, 2009 This year marks the 10th anniversary since the enthronement of Archbishop Demetrios. On Sunday, September 20, every Parish in the Metropolis of Boston will offer special prayers on behalf of Archbishop Demetrios. May Almighty God bless him with many years filled with health so that he may continue "rightly teaching the word of God's Truth." We have been truly blessed with a man of wisdom who has offered visionary leadership to our Archdiocese.
His Eminence will be with us on Saturday, September 26, as we open the doors of our new Retreat House at the Faith & Heritage Center in Contoocook, NH. I expect every priest and community of our Metropolis to be present on September 26, as we begin a new chapter in the life of our Metropolis in New England.
The Retreat House was built to address the spiritual needs of the Faithful, and to open its embrace to all who seek to learn about our Greek Orthodox Faith and Cultural Heritage. Soon after the official opening I encourage Parish Councils, Philoptochos Societies, Youth Groups, Senior Citizens Groups and every Fraternal Organization to participate in workshops, retreats and conferences at our Retreat House.
We all---as individuals and groups---need time to retreat from our daily routines for prayer and reflection. We need to spend time in silence so that we may hear the voice of God.
I await to see you on September 26.
