224 24th Annual Golf Tournament

The Metropolis of Boston hosted the MBC Golf Tournament on Tuesday, September 24 at the Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover, MA. This annual golf classic is the only fundraiser for the Metropolis Camp. This year’s tournament was sold out and was a resounding success.

During dinner, guests were informed about the successes of the MBC camping ministry from Panos Coufos, the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries and of the Metropolis Camp. With great joy, Pano announced that this was one of the busiest summers that MBC has seen in 35 years of camping ministry, as over 700 young people participated in summer camp. Over the course of this year, the camp awarded $75,000 in direct financial assistance to just over 100 campers who would be not able to attend due to financial reasons. The registration fee remains at $650, even though the true cost is over $1,200.

Ava Ziagos, a senior in high school, shared her experiences about what the camp means to her and the impact it has made in her life. Ava is excited to serve as a counselor and continue to visit the beautiful campus that she considers her second home.

With the encouragement and blessing of Metropolitan Methodios, Michael Sintros, the Director of the Faith and Heritage Center, reported on the progress of the new Field House and indoor gymnasium that will be completed in December 2024. The fieldhouse will provide the MBC program a large indoor space for activities during rainy weather and winter camp. This indoor fieldhouse has been a top priority for Metropolitan Methodios.

Thanks to the efforts of this year’s golf committee lead by co-chairs Chris Chrisafides and Manny Frangiadakis, the 24th Annual Golf Classic was a great success filled with fellowship, sportsmanship and dedication to supporting this wonderful cause. We look forward to next year’s 25th Golf Classic on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
