Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos Conference at the Clergy Laity Assembly
Wednesday, December 31, 1969The Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos hosted the Biennial Philoptochos Conference in conjunction with the Clergy-Laity Meeting on Saturday, October 16. Over 60 Philoptochos members and guests attended and 26 out of the 37 active Chapters were represented. Truly a day of Philoptochos Fellowship!
Over the past two years and under very difficult circumstances, our Philoptochos members and Chapters have continued to express their love and compassion to help many people in need by donating more than $100,000.00 to various ministries including the Metropolis Social Services Fund which provided over $28,000.00 in financial assistance to 28 individuals/families in need; the Philoxenia House; the Saint Methodios Faith and Heritage Retreat Center; many food assistance programs like Project Bread and other food banks in the six New England States; Operation Housewarming for Veterans, Hellenic College/Holy Cross; the Hellenic Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center-Canton; and Holy Trinity Nursing & Rehab Center-Worcester.
The theme of the Biennial Philoptochos Conference focused on increasing membership: How Can You Grow Your Chapter? A very enthusiastic discussion ensued and the participants shared ideas on what works and How to Get the Word Out! Also, elections were held for the 2021-2023 Metropolis Philoptochos Board.
The Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos Board is extremely grateful for the support from our members and the Parishes in this beloved Metropolis!
