The Reverend Father Anthony S. Tandilyan Assigned as the New Proistamenos of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Parish in Somerville, MA

His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios is pleased to announce the appointment of The Reverend Father Anthony Tandilyan as the new Proistamenos (Pastor) of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Parish in Somerville, MA beginning March 15, 2019.  Fr. Anthony has served as the Associate Pastor of the Saint Vasilios Parish in Peabody, MA since 2015 and brings with him a rich pastoral experience, especially with the youth of the Church, that will help enhance and cultivate the ministries of the Dormition Parish.   

Father Anthony was born in the village of Haxpat, Armenia in 1975. He attended the Pedagogical College of Yerevan and received his bachelor’s degree in education. In 2001, he graduated Gevorkian seminary, after defending his thesis concerning “Bioethical problems of possible human cloning” He was ordained to the Holy Diaconate on July 22, 2001 on the feast of The Holy Transfiguration and assigned to work at the Religious News center of the Mother See. While there, he prepared daily Church news for public media through the central TV station and weekly radio programs through two major radio stations of Armenia.

In 2005 he received his master’s degree in Theological Studies from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and in 2011 he graduated from the same school with a Masters in Theology. Fr. Anthony was ordained to the Holy Priesthood by His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios on October 26, 2015 at Saint Demetrios in Weston MA. In November of 2015 he was assigned as the Associate Pastor of the Saint Vasilios Parish in Peabody, MA. Fr. Anthony is joyfully married to his wife Presvytera Kellie and they have three children Michael, Ella and David. We wish Fr. Anthony good strength as he begins this new chapter in his ministry and in the life and history of the Domrition Parish.
