METROPOLITAN METHODIOS PRESENTS MILITARY BIBLE TO SERGEANT ALEXANDER SEBUNNYA

On the day before he left for his third tour to Iraq, U.S. Army Sergeant Alexander K. Sebunnya and his family attended the Vespers of St. Methodios in the St. Andrew Chapel in Brookline and received the blessings of Metropolitan Methodios who presented Sergeant Sebunnya with the New Testament & Psalms for Orthodox Christians: Military Edition. This new publication is a pocket-sized New Testament and Psalms specifically designed to minister to Orthodox Christian men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces. It features a camouflage cover and conforms to military specifications so that it can easily be carried in a uniform or backpack.
Sergeant Sebunnya is a graduate of Hellenic College-Holy Cross, Class of 1989. He came to the School from the Greek Uganda Orthodox Church. He joined the United States Army in 1991 and served in the Desert Storm and Operation Iraq Freedom theaters. His recent tour which began on June 14, the Feast Day of St. Methodios, Patriarch of Constantinople, will end in June 2010. Sergeant Sebunnya and his wife Juliet, a nurse, reside in Waltham, MA and worship in the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown. They are the parents of Anna, 13, Ethel, 11, Alexander, 8, and Elias, 5.
The Orthodox Military Edition New Testament & Psalms for Orthodox Christians: Military Edition was prepared by The Standing Conference of the Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA) in partnership with the American Bible Society.
