METROPOLIS HOLDS ORATORICAL FESTIVAL

METROPOLITAN METHODIOS WITH JUNIOR DIVISION FINALISTS: ATHANASIA KOURTIS, center, first place finalist; CHRISTINE FLYNN, second place finalist; and JOHN DAMIANOS, third place finalist.

His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios praised and congratulated all the participants of the Oratorical Festival which was held on Saturday, May 9 in the Metropolis Center.  Jennifer Cokotis of the St. Luke Parish in East Longmeadow was the Senior Division finalist, and Athanasia Kourtis of the St. Demetrios Church in Weston, MA was the Junior Division finalist.  They will participate in the National finals which will be held in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN June 12-14.

Sixteen young people particpated in the Metropolis Oratorical festival. Junior Division participants were: Julie Cokotis and Christine Dasco, St. Luke, East Longmeadow, MA; John Damianos and Eleni Zotos, St. Nicholas, Portsmouth, NH; Christine Flynn, St. Sophia, New London, CT; Athanasia Kourtis, St. Demetrios, Weston, MA Adriana Mitrelis, Annunciation, Cranston, RI; Thaya Psyhojos, St. Nicholas, Lexington.  The Sinior division participants were: Nicolette Anderson, St. Gregory, Mansfield, MA; Jennifer Cokotis and Dylan Dasco, St. Luke, East Longmeadow, MA; Ari Eriksson, St. Athanasios, Arlington, MA; Cassandra Garibaldi and George Murphy, Transfiguration, Lowell, MA; James Harritos, Annunciation, Cranston, RI, and Theodore Klesaris, Annunciation, Woburn, MA.

The 2009 Metropolis of Boston Oratorical Festival Committee was chaired by Fr. Agathonikos Wilson and consisted of Michael Constantinou, Eleni Geanon, and Elaine Otto.  Juding the Oratorical Festival were Attorney Charlene Colt, Dr. Penelope Tzougros, and Fr. Evangelos Thiani.  The Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos Board hosted the morning refreshments and a light luncheon for all following the event.
