All of the campers came together in fellowship and had an enjoyable and fun-filled weekend spending time with their staff and “living in their faith”.
From February 9-11 the Metropolis hosted the 13th annual Joy Winter Camp at the St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center in Contoocook, New Hampshire. First-time as well as returning campers ranging from ages eight to eleven gathered together from across New England for the weekend to live out the specific theme set in place for this year’s Winter Camp.
“Living Our Faith Everyday”, this year’s camp theme, was demonstrated by the campers and staff through various activities. Besides attending Orthodox’s Life and chapel, the kids enjoyed an “indoor campfire” that allowed the children to create smores and sing along to the traditional campfire songs. Other activities such as the Winter Olympics, gave the children a chance to enjoy the winter weather and compete in fun games. The arts and crafts project for this weekend, staying with the winter theme, was snowman sock puppets.
Ten-year-old Joy camper Alexandra says that Winter Camp lets her see her old friends that she has made in previous years and to make more friends too! Boy camper, nine-year-old George says that MBC is his “favorite place in the world” and teaches him more about God each year he comes back.
