The Metropolis of Boston Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society

Welcome to the Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos! The establishment of the Philoptochos in New England took place at a Conference convened at the Annunciation Cathedral in Boston in July of 1955 with officers and members of the five greater Boston Philoptochos chapters. Today, the Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos Society is comprised of 42 chapters in the parishes served by the Metropolis of Boston. Explore our website to learn about us and see what we have been up to.

Our Board is always working on something whether that is an event to support our current ministries or working with a new ministry. We also like to share the amazing work our Chapters across the Metropolis are doing every day.

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos Board, chaired by His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios, was pleased to host a Philoptochos Chapter Presidents Engagement Meeting at the Metropolis Center in Brookline, MA. Philoptochos sisters from throughout the Metropolis were in attendance for the first in person meeting in several years. It was a blessing to be together and especially to have His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios with us and to receive his blessings.

Metropolis Philoptochos President Jane Kourtis led the meeting and provided updates on the Metropolis of Boston ministries, in particular the Metropolis of Boston Camp. The summer camp saw a large increase in enrollment this year and the new gym is almost complete. We heard updates from National Philoptochos Secretary Philippa Condakes regarding resolutions from the national convention in San Diego this past July, including a new prison ministry initiative. We also heard an update from National Board Member Elaine Zetes regarding the roll out of a new, much-needed Philoptochos Procedural Manual. These updates were followed by a presentation, with break out groups, on how to increase Philoptochos membership and how to attract new members. Everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast and lunch together. The Chapter Presidents Engagement Meeting was informative and productive and enjoyed by all.
